Environmental Compliance Software

Ecco Safety

A 20-year-old environmental compliance platform was rebuilt from scratch, lifting uptime from under 90% to 100%, cutting cloud cost to 20% of the legacy system, and reducing monthly churn from 12% to 4%.

The challenge

Ecco Safety operates a compliance tracking platform for high environmental-impact projects. The original system had been in production for two decades on an outdated stack and had received only minor evolution over the years. Uptime sat under 90%, with daily instabilities. The interface was difficult to use, slowing every routine task. Customers were cancelling or threatening to cancel, and monthly churn had reached around 12%. The business needed a platform it could rely on, not a system its team had to apologise for.

Our approach

Navega was hired to rebuild the platform from the ground up. The work started with a structured discovery: interviews with end customers, conversations with Ecco Safety stakeholders, and a review of competing products to identify gaps and real market fit. From that baseline, we designed a new system with current data protection and security requirements applied from day one, and an architecture built for high resilience.

The rebuild reshaped the core workflows around how compliance teams actually work, not around the constraints of the legacy software. Cloud infrastructure was sized to demand and operated under cost discipline. Engineering continues on an ongoing basis: new modules, performance work, and incremental improvements are released against a defined roadmap.

Results

100% Current uptime (from under 90%)
4% Monthly churn (down from 12%)
50% Fewer steps to complete core actions
80% Reduction in cloud cost vs. legacy system
